About the Artist...

Ira grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Oakland. His natural talent was supported and encouraged at home. The Bay Area, with its diversity of cultures and ideas, and its many museums, further encouraged him to explore Art as his LIfe's work.

In 1980, he opened "Frosted Ideas" in Oakland, California. Working in sandblasted art glass, he created many unique and beautiful pieces. Chief among them was a glass sculpture commissioned to be presented to Raisa Gorbachev, the wife of the Premier of Russia. He also expanded his works centered on his own Norwegian heritage; he is a familiar face at "Norwegian Days" Festivals throughout the western United States.

Today, Ira lives and works in Turlock, California. He is well-known for his work in glass and stone. His art can be found in museums, in businesses, at City Hall, and in private homes.
